Lion Sands is the only private game reserve rooted in both the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Kruger National Park.
The Sabie River forms a natural boundary between its two sides, and four waterside lodges provide the ultimate luxury safari bases.
The lodge offers the ultimate VIP safari experience. Eight, one-bedroom Villas provide every comfort and convenience – from private pools and maxibars stocked with champagne to, in the case of the two-bedroom Fish Eagle Villa, a spa and gym, butler, personal chef, field guide, and safari vehicle.
And EVERYTHING is included for a tailor-made family/friend adventure. Look forward to game drives, bush walks, wildlife lectures, safari sundowners, astronomy, dining in the bush and under the stars.
Sacred ground, which started as a vision and ended being a slice of paradise. – Charmaine Banks, General Manager
The lodge makes for an intimate safari experience. Individual accommodations occupy their own spot along the riverbank, and there are a variety of options to meet your needs.
The River Suites are the most private and spacious – being further away from the main lodge and each with a plunge pool – and include a Family Suite. Children over 10 years’ old are welcome, and kept occupied with the Mack & Madi kids’ programme and out of mischief with a dedicated childminding service.
River Lodge is the perfect place to unwind in the African bush and appreciate its wildlife. – Claire Melvin, Operations Support Manager
Tinga captures the romance of the pioneer days, while providing considerable more comfort, with its sophisticated take on the colonial-style lodge.
Occupying private spots along the river and in the bush, the nine Suites and two-bedroom Hi’Nkweni Villa (each with their own pool and deck) have that comfortable, nestled in feeling.
Facilities include a spa sala, and the villa also comes with its own butler, field guide and open 4 × 4 vehicle for a more exclusive safari experience.

The lodge, perched on stilts amongst a canopy of 100-year-old trees, has an air of relaxation and romance. The main lodge connects via raised wooden walkways to a spa sala and nine separate Suites.
Each is built to afford complete privacy in a wilderness where you can watch the animals come down to the water from your pool and deck, as well as bed and bath. Listening to the river while sitting with your feet up, enjoying a cocktail… it’s the simple things in life.
